Message from President
I, Daksha Raja, would like to express my immense gratitude and confidence bestowed by all the members at the AGM for electing me as NANIS President for 2020 and putting their trust in me for taking our society further forwards.
Being one of the founder members of this society and serving on the Management Committee in different positions as a past President, Secretary, Trustee and a Committee Member means a lot to me and have always had the betterment of the society at heart.
In 1972 as an active member of Overseas Students Association, Norwich City College, where I was a student, we welcomed the deported Ugandan Asian families who arrived here. As students, we also arranged Navratri and Diwali events at Norwich YMCA for them.
In August 1983 we officially formed Norfolk & Norwich Asian Society and over the years changed the name to Norfolk & Norwich Indian society.
From there till today you can see what we have achieved collectively.
I would like to welcome you all to what we hope will be a busy and exciting year with lots of bigger and better events to cater for all ages. We have some younger and very enthusiastic Committee Members on board this year.
It is our duty to guide and encourage the younger generation to build on the foundation that has been laid by previous members; after all, they are the future torchbearers.
We always welcome constructive feedback and new ideas, so please do not hesitate to get in touch with any of us, as we always strive to grow from strength to strength.
